Fix Your Flexibility

I started my career as a professional Jazz dancer & teacher, Dancing has been my biggest guru that I could have ever asked for, and one of the gifts of dancing is the gift of Flexibility.

Flexibility, not just in my body but in my mind, thoughts actions and most importantly flexibility in my identity as well.

As kids, we have such flow & flexibility of who we want to be as human, one day a pilot another day CEO another day hairdresser or a painter! There were no limits to our imaginations and society had not yet tampered our thoughts with conditional acceptance. As we grew most of us embarked on a life path and built our identity around it.

I have been a Professional dancer, teacher, door to door saleswoman, yoga trainer, amateur poet while holding a corporate career as well. My identity is not restricted to just one aspect, one career or hobby. I have realized I can be many things and these varied life experiences have given me different perspectives to look at life & situations both at work as well as at home.

I am thinking about flexibility as a value for both individuals and organisations, especially as we deal with current COVID pandemic. Many of us have lost jobs, have had pay cut and our at crossroads in our life. Many organisations have shut down or have slowed down

Life is giving us to another chance to re-invent ourselves. I am inviting you to ask these questions, drop your current idea of self and bring some options and freedom to your thoughts & your identity.

  • What more would I like to be?

  • How can I expand my identity?

  • What other paths/ hobby excite me?

  • Can I build another skill & career path?

These questions are just a gentle nudge towards re-inventing and expanding yourself.

They might make you move your rigid thought muscles and even give you uncomfortable pain, I would recommend you relax breathe and allow new thoughts to come to you and you will notice a little new space in your thinking and you have taken a new step towards new identity. This is how dancers build flexibility in body and guess what? The process remains same for our thoughts as well.

Our long life needs a little more discovering, little more expanding and lot many facets and identities.

Fix the flexibility and Move- your thoughts to bring in a new identity! Who are you going to be Next??
